Governors II Moran Camp - Maasai MaraIl Moran Camp is situated along the banks of the Mara River, right in the heart of the Masai Mara Game Reserve. The camp's tents line the winding banks of the river, with the best game viewing right on your doorstep. The annual wildebeest migration crosses the Mara River between July and September each year.

The camp is perfectly situated for the migration. The camp was formerly known as Paradise Camp and had 20 tents. The owner's decided to reduce the size of the new camp in direct response to their desire to preserve the surroundings and make a contribution to reduce the impact of tourists on the environment.

Il Moran Camp - Luxury TentDescription

Il Moran has 10 luxury tents that feature king size beds fashioned from ancient fallen olive trees.

Each tent has en suite bathrooms with bath, large shower, twin basins, flush toilet, running hot and cold water and private veranda.

Breakfast and lunch are served under giant evergreen trees on the banks of the Mara River.

Dinner is served either by the river or in the opening dining tent.

Game Viewing

Governors II Moran Camp - Luxury CampThe Masai Mara is an area with a constant flow of wildlife throughout the year. From July to October the Masai Mara becomes the backdrop for the annual wildebeest migration. This is when 1.5 million wildebeest and zebra surge up from the Serengeti plains in the annual search for the seasonal grasses that sustain them.

The spectacle as the vast herds cross rivers and sweep across the golden grasses attracts predators which are also drawn to take part in this dramatic event. Whilst the migration is spectacular, game viewing at other times of the year remains almost unrivalled anywhere in Africa. Birds, butterflies, hippos, elephants and leopards can all be found within close proximity to Il Moran.

The bush lands around Rhino Ridge are also good areas for spotting one of the Masai Mara's 20 or so black rhinos. This area is also good for big cat sightings the BBC's Big Cat Diaries is filmed in this area.

Feedback From Clients

Dear Davies, The safari experience exceeded my expectations. Each of the parks we visited was unique. We saw all the animals that Africa had to offer. The vehicles used were excellent. The quality of the lodges was beyond my expectations. I thought the guides were adequate. They did alot of driving and were skilled at that activity. Although, they were very knowledgeable about the animals and let us know what we were viewing, I would have liked to have had more information on the countries that we visited, the people, the economy, politics, etc. In this regard they did not volunteer much information beyond telling us about the animals. The guide in Tanzania was somewhat more informative than the guide in Kenya. Both were extremely pe...
