The Historic house was the original hunting lodge and farm house which was built around 1906 to 1908. It is located approximately a half mile from the Karen Blixen museum, and is 15 minutes from Nairobi town. When the house was

built, it was surrounded by indigenous forest, bush and grass lands, most which was cleared for use as agriculture, particularly coffee in the first quarter of the 20th century.

The old historic house has been renovated as a lounge where you can come enjoy breakfast or lunch, afternoon tea and cocktails and candlelight dinner or after dinner cocktails. Enjoy the historic, copper plated fire place and music playing on the old Gramophone while you listen to talks by safari guides of golden days in Africa and internationally known wildlife experts. Formal group "Out of Africa" dinners or receptions can be arranged by reservation.

The Karen Blixen Cottage facilities have now been completed to house as many as 30 guests. The cottages have also been designed after the historic Swedo House. All elegantly appointed cottages have hi-beam ceilings with fireplaces, wood and mazeras stone floors. Each bedroom has a large bathroom with its own shower and bath and also contains robes, slippers and hairdryers. Satellite television, internet connections and telephones are available in all rooms.

All cottages have a verandah for relaxing while enjoying the birds, butterflies and flowers of the garden. We provide feeders to attract a wide variety of birds.

Karen Blixen Cottages can house as many as 30 guests. Eight of the cottages have individual suites and three have two bedroom suites with a common large sitting room

The honeymoon cottage has a large bedroom and sitting room each with a fireplace. All well appointed cottages have hi-beam ceilings with fireplaces, wood and mazeras stone floors. Mini bars, satellite TVs and internet connections have also been installed.

Davies, What an awesome trip!!!! Everything went off without a hitch. We had the most incredible game viewing I think anyone could ever have. The hospitality of the Kenyan people was like no other in the whole world. The game viewing exceeded all our expectations. In the Samburu portion of the trip we saw a leopard get a kill, take it up in a tree, climb down and call for her cub and find her. There were many herds of Elephants, Grevy's zebra's, Reticulated Giraffes, Eland, Grant Gazelle's, Impala's, Bushbuck, Gerenuk, Grey Duikers, Dik-Dik's, Warthogs, Olive Baboons, Vervet Monkey's, Lions, Jackals, Genet and more, I'm sure! Our driver, tent steward, waiters and all the personnel went far beyond their duties to make everything so personal a...
