Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary - this privately owned sanctuary is 17,000 hectares of rolling savanna accented by dramatic rocky outcrops and small plateaus, a favourite with the lions.As there is plenty of water many animals shelter there including large herds of elephant and many other plains game migrate to the sanctuary from Tsavo each year. Because the sanctuary is privately managed there are fewer vehicles on game drives.
The wardens employed to keep track of the animals are in touch with the drivers and pass on information of their whereabouts which can make game drives very exciting and satisfying. Night game viewing and drives are possible from here.
